Submission Guidelines           

Please note: we do NOT accept samples with the following: post-it notes, loose papers, absent email addresses, tubes with wrap-around labels (they get stuck in the automated system), screw cap tubes (they break the very expensive tips on our robot), or 0.5mL tubes.

DNA Concentration

Note: All dilutions should be performed using water.

Primer Concentration

• Primers for sequencing plasmid DNA, PCR products, and BAC DNA should be submitted at a concentration of 10 ng/µl or 1.0 µmol

Tubes

• The facility only accepts 1.5 ml flip-top tubes
• All tubes must be labeled on the cap
• All tube labels should exactly match the DNA and primer names entered on the submission form
• The facility will not accept screw cap tubes
• The facility will not accept tubes smaller or larger than 1.5 ml tubes
• The facility will not accept tubes with wrap-around labels

Volumes

• For DNA template and primers, please submit at least 10µl per reaction
• The same DNA sample for different sequencing reactions can be placed in the same DNA tube. The same primer for different sequencing reactions can also be placed in a single primer tube.

Example: If you want to sequence DNA X with 3 different primers (3 sequencing reactions) you will need to submit a total of 3 x 10 µl = 30 µl of DNA X in a single 1.5 ml flip-top tube.
